Aquatec is a Taiwanese accessories brand producing dive lights, surface marker buoys, cutting tools, dive slates, compasses, and safety equipment for recreational scuba diving. The brand focuses on practical accessories that complement core equipment from major manufacturers, with a consistent focus on build quality and marine environment durability at accessible price points.

Night diving at Malaysian reef sites - Tioman, Redang, Mabul, the Perhentians - reveals marine life that is completely absent during daylight: octopus on the hunt, cuttlefish displaying, mandarin fish spawning at dusk, and bioluminescent plankton visible only without a light source. For a primary dive torch, a minimum of 800 lumens with a beam angle broad enough to illuminate a metre of reef at comfortable viewing distance is the practical baseline. An SMB and finger spool combination is the critical safety setup for drift diving at current-prone Malaysian sites like Layang Layang and the channel passes around the Semporna archipelago. The spool allows controlled deployment of the SMB from depth without the line tangling around equipment - a controlled deployment at 5m safety stop depth gives the boat crew several minutes of surface-visible SMB time before the diver surfaces.

Rinse the torch in fresh water after every saltwater dive. Before each dive, open the battery compartment and visually inspect the O-ring for nicks, flat spots, or embedded particles - replace it if any damage is visible. Apply a thin film of silicone grease to the O-ring before reassembly. A compromised O-ring is the most common cause of dive torch flooding, and the inspection takes thirty seconds.
