iLab produces sun protection products designed specifically for water sports - the signature product is a tinted SPF sun stick that applies like a solid balm and stays put in and around water. The range also includes cream and spray sunscreens, all formulated to be coral-friendly and free from the reef-damaging UV filters found in most conventional sunscreens.

The stick format applies precisely - athletes and divers use it to cover exposed areas like the nose, cheeks, and back of the neck without the runoff and eye-sting issues that affect liquid sunscreen in and around water. The tinted finish comes in a range of colours that have made iLab visually distinctive in the surf and freediving community, used deliberately as a style element rather than hidden under clear sunscreen.

iLab formulates without oxybenzone and octinoxate - the two chemical UV filters most strongly linked to coral bleaching, reef organism endocrine disruption, and coral spawning interference. The formulas are designed to be biodegradable at a rate that does not accumulate in reef ecosystems. For divers and freedivers spending time at Malaysian Marine Park sites, using reef-safe sun protection is both responsible and increasingly expected.

iLab sunscreens are formulated for high-activity outdoor and water sports use, with SPF ratings in the range appropriate for extended tropical sun exposure. Malaysia's equatorial position means UV index regularly hits extreme levels - above 11 - during midday hours, which is the period when divers are most often on boat decks between dives. At these UV levels, SPF 50+ and physical blocking minerals perform significantly better than low-SPF chemical filters.

The stick format is water-resistant by design - it does not emulsify and wash off on contact with water the way many liquid and cream sunscreens do. Freedivers apply iLab sticks before training sessions and find the coverage holds through repeated water entries. The product is not a full waterproofing system - reapplication after extended sessions remains important - but the stay-put formulation is meaningfully more durable than conventional creams in repeated immersion.

iLab developed a following in the surf and freediving community before entering the broader dive retail market.
