Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that can damage the silicone. Regular cleaning will ensure your snorkel remains in good condition and breathe smoothly.

How do you think the Mares Element Snorkel will hold up to aggressive marine life? Some friends of mine are hesitant to purchase it due to concerns about damage from sharp coral or jellyfish stings. Should we just stick to rigid tube snorkels?

The Element snorkel is designed with a soft, flexible tube that is resistant to scratches and other minor damages. However, like any flexible tube, it may not be the best option for areas with extremely sharp coral or aggressive marine life. That being said, many customers have used the Element snorkel in Coral Reef environments with great success. If you’re unsure, you might consider using a mask or dive skin to protect the snorkel from potential damage. We do offer a rigid snorkel option if you’re looking for extra protection, which would be a good choice for areas with sharp coral or other hazards. However, this was generally due to user error or extreme exposure to currents/predator attacks. In general, Mares Element Snorkels are designed to be highly durable and resistant to wear and tear. That being said, we encourage you to follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for maintenance and usage to get the most out of your snorkel. One of the best snorkels I own now! Mares Element is a total blow out for fellow scubas. Good news for beginners, quite hard to shake the snorkel out. Would have rated 5 out of 5 stars if it wasn’t for the occasional leak with over-enthusiastic mouth actions. Well worth the price, nonetheless.
