The soft silicone mouthpiece fits comfortably and the tube itself is quite flexible and durable, reducing drag and visual disturbance during deep dives. This is one of my go-to snorkels for every dive expedition. It is built to last and the flexibility of the housing definitely gives great visibility underwater. However, I’ve had some issues with waterlogging with this product, could you have more designs for drainage?

While we don’t currently have a product that combines a detachable flexible hose with minimal loss of airflow, our product development team is always exploring ways to improve our snorkeling gear. We recommend checking our website for future updates or considering our Mares Rover Snorkel which features a comfortable mouthpiece and a splash guard to help reduce water entry.

This snorkel does exceed what one may expect from a snorkel with the excellent performance underwater alongside fine comfort. Nothing to complain about really. Except it’s just not worth it to spend that much for snorkelling, the luxury of it is overpriced?

What specific consideration did you take into account when choosing silicones for the housing. Does that also have the protective benefits that a typical Kevlar-based material might possess?

Thank you for your question, Pam. At Mares, we selected silicone for the housing of our Sport Snorkel due to its exceptional flexibility, durability, and resistance to corrosion. While it doesn’t provide the same level of protection as Kevlar, it does offer excellent resistance to damage from impacts and abrasions. We believe the benefits of silicone, including its comfort and ease of use, outweigh the added protection offered by Kevlar.
