Many divers take compasses for granted, considering them just an accessory to an overall dive gauge console system. Trying to navigate with a poorly designed or improperly functioning compass can be one of diving s more frustrating events. The Scubapro Compass FS-1.5 N, Capsule design is an oil filled compass with a list of features as functional and convenient as every instrument that bears the Sub Gear name.

I’ve been using the compass for a few dives now, and I must say it’s been a game-changer. The oil-filled design helps minimize magnetic interference, and the capsule shape makes it easy to hold and navigate. The only downside is that it’s a bit pricey, but I think it’s worth the investment. Would definitely recommend it to fellow divers!
Daniel Wong –
Is it worth the extra cost to get a compass with an oil-filled design? Does it really make a difference in navigation during dives?
Imran Hanafiah –
Thank you for your question, Daniel. An oil-filled compass like the Scubapro Compass FS-1.5 N Capsule is designed to provide a more accurate reading in harsh underwater conditions. The oil filling helps to isolate the compass’s movement from external factors like water pressure and temperature changes, resulting in a more precise navigation during dives. While it’s worth noting that some divers may not notice a significant difference, it’s a feature that can provide peace of mind and confidence in navigation, especially in strong currents or during long dives. We recommend investing in a high-quality compass like the Scubapro Compass FS-1.5 N Capsule if you’re looking for the best possible navigation experience.

The Scubapro Compass FS-1.5 N has been a reliable companion on my dives. The magnetic needle is steady and accurate, and the compass is easy to read even in low-light conditions. One minor improvement would be to make the lanyard attachment more secure. Overall, I’m extremely satisfied with this purchase!
Jeraldine Lee –
I’ve used the Scubapro Compass FS-1.5 N Capsule for several dives now and I’m really impressed. The bubble tube is easy to read and the accuracy is spot on. However, the lanyard could be a bit longer for my taste. Maybe a bit longer would be perfect.
Kevin Ng –
Is it possible to attach a light to the compass for easier reading during nighttime dives? I’d love to get some more use out of this awesome tool!
Imran Hanafiah –
Thank you for your interest in attaching a light to the Scubapro Compass FS-1.5 N Capsule, Kevin. Unfortunately, the design of this compass is not compatible with external lights. The Compass FS-1.5 N Capsule is an oil-filled compass that is sealed for reliability and water resistance. However, we recommend using a dive buddy or a separate diving light for improved visibility during nighttime dives. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

The Scubapro Compass FS-1.5 N has been a solid addition to my dive kit. As a beginner, I appreciate the clear markings and easy-to-use design. One minor criticism would be that the compass could be more compact, but overall, I’m very happy with this purchase.
Katherine Lim –
Has anyone had any issues with the compass’s magnetic needle being affected by nearby equipment?
Imran Hanafiah –
Thank you for sharing your question, Katherine. We’ve had several customers use the Scubapro Compass FS-1.5 N Capsule with their gear without any issues. However, as a matter of best practice, it’s recommended to keep your compass at least 18-20 inches away from any ferromagnetic materials, especially when using it to navigate. Additionally, you can also consider the compass’s magnetic declination setting to adjust for any local magnetic influences. For any further assistance or recommendations, feel free to ask! Have other divers experienced this issue with their Compass FS-1.5 N Capsule?
Emily Wong –
I’m still adjusting to using a compass underwater, but the FS-1.5 N has made the experience so much smoother. The magnetic needle is incredibly stable, and the crystal-clear bubble tube makes it easy to take readings. One thing I’m concerned about is the potential for oil leakage over time.

What’s the recommended storage method for this compass when not in use? I’d like to make sure it’s protected from scratches and damage during transport?
Junhao Lo –
Thank you for reaching out about the recommended storage method for your Scubapro Compass FS-1.5 N. To ensure it’s protected from scratches and damage, we recommend storing it in the original protective sleeve or case that comes with the compass. For added protection, consider storing the compass in a dedicated dive gear bag with cushioning. This will also make it easier to transport and prevent accidental damage. Please follow these storage guidelines to keep your compass in the best condition.

Will this compass be compatible with standard dive computers? I’d hate to have to replace it mid-dive if it doesn’t work properly?
Sophia Tan –
The Scubapro Compass FS-1.5 N Capsule is a game-changer for me. It’s incredibly accurate and user-friendly. The oil-filled capsule design makes it virtually unaffected by magnetic interference, which is a major plus for me. I also appreciate the ergonomic design, making it easy to hold and manipulate underwater. The lanyard attachment is a thoughtful touch, preventing accidental drops.
