I’ve heard that some users have experienced issues with the Scubapro MK25 EVO / G260 Black Tech Regulator freezing in cold water. Is this a design flaw?
Junhao Lo –
Thank you for reaching out and bringing this to our attention. The Scubapro MK25 EVO / G260 Black Tech Regulator is designed with a patented Extended Thermal Insulating System (XTIS) that helps prevent freezing in cold water. According to Scubapro, the XTIS provides a significant reduction in freezing risk and ensures consistent performance even in water temperatures as low as 10°C (50°F). However, we do recommend proper maintenance and servicing of the regulator to ensure optimal performance. If you’re experiencing any issues, we’d be happy to provide further guidance or discuss a potential warranty claim. Have you taken any measures to prevent freezing or noticed any specific issues with your regulator?

Liam Wong –
Is the Scubapro MK25 EVO / G260 Black Tech Regulator suitable for cold water diving?
Junhao Lo –
Thank you for your question, Liam. The Scubapro MK25 EVO / G260 Black Tech Regulator is designed to perform well in cold water conditions due to its patented Extended Thermal Insulating System (XTIS). This system helps to maintain optimal performance by reducing cold water’s effect on the regulator’s airflow. Based on customer feedback and reviews, many divers have successfully used this regulator in cold water environments. However, please note that it’s always a good idea to consult your dive manual and manufacturer’s specifications for the specific temperature limits of your equipment.

I’m impressed by the Scubapro MK25 EVO / G260 Black Tech Regulator’s ability to perform consistently in cold water conditions. However, I wish it were more affordable for casual divers like me.
Kaitlyn Teo –
Will the Black Tech finish withstand scratches and corrosion? I want my regulator to last for a long time.
Imran Hanafiah –
Thank you for choosing the Scubapro MK25 EVO / G260 Black Tech Regulator! I can understand your concern about the durability of the Black Tech finish. Rest assured that our regulators are designed to withstand scratches and corrosion. The Black Tech finish is a special type of coating that is resistant to scratches and corrosion. While no finish is completely scratch-proof, our Black Tech finish has been tested to provide excellent resistance to corrosion and minor scratches. However, to help extend the lifespan of your regulator, we recommend proper care and maintenance. This includes avoiding extreme exposure to saltwater, scrubbing away any deposits that may form, and applying a coat of lubricant after each dive. Regular cleaning and proper storage can also help to prevent corrosion. I hope this information helps to alleviate your concerns. If you have any further questions or would like more information, please don’t hesitate to ask.
