   I’m a beginner scuba diver, and I’m considering the Poseidon Xstream for my upcoming expedition. Can you explain how the TDA feature works and whether it’s suitable for shallow dives? What’s the recommended air pressure setting for this regulator?

The TDA feature, or Thermo Dynamic Antifreeze, is a clever design that helps to prevent the regulator from freezing in cold water conditions. This is achieved by the through-flowing water keeping the ice away from the regulator, eliminating the need for extra fluids or diaphragms. This feature is particularly useful for deep-sea diving where the water temperature can be quite low. However, for shallow dives, you don’t typically need to worry about freezing temperatures, and the TDA feature might not provide significant benefits. As for the recommended air pressure setting, we generally recommend setting it between 120-140 PSI for optimal performance.    I’m not sure what I did wrong, but I got this regulator and used it for one dive before it started malfunctioning. I followed all the instructions, but it just wouldn’t budge. Maybe this is just a one-off issue, but until I figure it out, I can’t say I’d recommend it to anyone.

   I’m impressed with how well this Poseidon Xstream regulator holds up in cold water. The anti-freeze feature is a godsend for scuba diving in winter conditions. A minor quibble is that the hose attachment can be a bit slippery to handle when wet. Overall, this regulator is worth the investment for its durability and performance.
