The Poseidon Cyklon 5000 Regulator exceeded my expectations in terms of airflow and durability. However, the first stage is quite bulky, which made it difficult to carry in our dive bag.

I recently got my hands on a used Poseidon Cyklon 5000 regulator, and I must say it’s been a real workhorse. The side-mounted 2nd stage has been a game-changer in terms of hose routing flexibility. However, I do have one major issue – I’ve noticed that the regulator tends to leak air under pressure. Has anyone else experienced this issue?
Imran Hanafiah –
Thank you for sharing your experience with us, Cecilia. We’re glad you’re enjoying the flexibility of the side-mounted 2nd stage. Leaks under pressure can be a concern, especially for technical divers. While it’s possible that the leak could be due to normal wear and tear or improper maintenance, we want to assure you that we’ve had several reputable resellers of used Poseidon gear report excellent performance from the Cyklon 5000. If the leak persists after servicing the regulator according to the manufacturer’s guidelines, we recommend reaching out to Poseidon directly or to the seller to discuss potential repair or replacement options. Our customer service team is available to assist you further if needed.

What are the key differences between the Poseidon Cyklon 5000 Regulator and other regulators on the market?
Alicia Foo –
What are the different settings for the LP and HP ports on the regulator, and how do I configure them?
Junhao Lo –
Thank you for choosing the Poseidon Cyklon 5000 Regulator. The LP and HP ports on the regulator are fully configurable to meet your specific needs. The LP (Low Pressure) ports are typically used for attaching the demand valve and alternate air source, while the HP (High Pressure) ports are used for hooking up the primary air supply. The Cyklon 5000 has 2 main HP ports (Yoke and DIN) and 4 LP ports (2 of which are side exhaust ports). The side-exhaust ports allow you to position the LP hose where it’s most convenient. To configure them, you’ll need to purchase the correct fittings and adapters, and attach them according to your specific diving needs and preference.

One thing I love about this regulator is its ability to perform in cold water. I’ve used it in temperatures as low as 50 degrees Fahrenheit, and it still delivers consistent airflow. The service-friendly design is also a plus, making maintenance a breeze. My only minor complaint is that the regulator can be a bit heavy, but that’s a trade-off for its exceptional durability.
