   I’ve been using the Mares Explorer Illusion 50 5mm Open Cell Jacket for a few dives now, and it’s been a game-changer. The neoprene is super soft and flexible, making it easy to move around underwater. However, the zipper could be a bit more secure.

   I recently tried the Mares Explorer Illusion 50 5mm Open Cell Jacket, and I was blown away by its comfort and warmth. The open-cell design allows for great mobility, making it perfect for scuba diving or snorkeling. I particularly love the Brown color, it’s so subtle and stylish.

     Thank you for your review, Cassandra! The Mares Explorer Illusion 50 5mm Open Cell Jacket is a versatile and comfortable dry suit, but it’s designed for temperate waters. While it’s made with high-quality materials, it’s not specifically intended for cold water diving. The open-cell design provides excellent insulation in warm waters, but may not be sufficient for colder conditions below 10°C. However, we’ve had customers use this jacket for cold water diving with great results, but it ultimately depends on individual preferences and diving techniques. If you plan to dive in cold water regularly, we recommend exploring options designed specifically for cold water diving.

   What is the difference between the 3mm and 5mm version of the Mares Explorer Illusion Open Cell Jacket? I’m thinking of buying one, but I want to make sure I get the right thickness for my diving needs?

The main difference between the 3mm and 5mm versions of this jacket is the thermal insulation and buoyancy. The 3mm version provides slightly less warmth and is designed for warmer diving conditions, while the 5mm version offers more insulation and is suitable for colder water dives. If you’re planning to dive in cooler waters, the 5mm version would be a better choice. On the other hand, if you’re diving in warmer waters, the 3mm version would be a suitable option. The 5mm version (the one you’re looking at) has a 5mm thickness, which provides additional warmth and protection.    I just got my hands on the Mares Explorer Illusion 50 5mm Open Cell Jacket, and I’m so impressed with its quality. The stitching is solid, and the material feels luxurious. However, I worried about the durability of the jacket’s seams over time.
