We can confirm that the 52x 1st Stage Regulator is designed to work with most second stages on the market. However, for optimal performance, we recommend using Mares’ own second stages, such as the Mares 765 or the Mares 77 Smart. These second stages have been specifically designed to work seamlessly with the 52x 1st Stage Regulator. That being said, many of our customers have successfully paired the 52x with other second stages from different manufacturers without any issues. While it’s not recommended to push our equipment beyond its rated limits, many customers have reported using the regulator for extensive periods without issues. However, we do recommend regular maintenance and inspections to ensure optimal performance and longevity. We’ve noticed that our regulators tend to perform well even at high pressures, but we do encourage testing and calibration every 12-18 months. One thing I noticed about the regulator is that it has an issue with freezing in colder water which I will seriously be looking into the manufacturing process to be improved but in general I’m happy with the model.
