What’s the battery life for this Problue GU-1280 Compass like? I’m planning to use it for longer trips. Also, does it come with a spare battery?
Junhao Lo –
Thank you for reaching out, Leila. The Problue GU-1280 Compass is not a typical magnetic compass that relies on batteries. It’s designed to be a drop-in, watertight compass that can withstand harsh environments. Therefore, it doesn’t require batteries and has no battery replacement. However, if you’re looking for a compass with extra features or longer functionality, we recommend checking out our electronic compasses. For longer trips, a reliable magnetic compass with proper use and storage can serve you well.

William Siaw –
How often do you need to calibrate the compass? I’d hate to be stuck in the wilderness with a non-functional compass.
Junhao Lo –
Thank you for reaching out, William. We appreciate your concern about calibrating the Problue GU-1280 Compass. To ensure accurate readings, we recommend calibrating the compass every 6 months to 1 year, or after it’s been dropped or subjected to strong magnetic fields. However, we’ve implemented a robust quality control process in our manufacturing to minimize the need for frequent calibration. Additionally, our compasses are designed with a magnetic needle that adjusts automatically to local magnetic variations. So, you can rest assured that our Problue GU-1280 Compass will continue to provide reliable readings during your wilderness adventures.

The glass in my Problue GU-1280 Compass cracked easily. Did I use it incorrectly or is that just the quality of the glass?
Junhao Lo –
Thank you for sharing your experience with the Problue GU-1280 Compass, Raymond. Sorry to hear that the glass cracked easily. To be honest, we’ve had similar issues reported by some customers, so it’s not just you. We’re looking into the matter and will consider replacing the glass with a more durable one in future revisions. Could you please clarify what you were doing when the glass cracked so we can get a better understanding of what might have caused it?
Kevin Kho –
What is the exact material used to make the compass?)
Junhao Lo –
Hello Kevin, thank you for your question about the material used in our Problue GU-1280 Compass. The exact material used to make the compass is brass with a durable plastic housing that protects it from the elements. We choose these materials due to their durability and resistance to corrosion. For more information about our product or if you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Best regards, The Problue Team.

What are the different settings on the compass?
Junhao Lo –
Thank you for sharing your feedback about the Problue GU-1280 Compass, Mavis. We’re glad you found it useful. The GU-1280 has a few different settings to help you navigate, including the direction-of-travel arrow, a liquid-filled dial, and declination adjustment. This helps account for variations in the Earth’s magnetic field and ensures you’re reading accurate compass readings. For more information, please refer to your user manual or check our product guide on our website. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask! We’re here to help.

Is the compass waterproof?
Imran Hanafiah –
Thank you for your question about the waterproofness of our Problue GU-1280 Compass! According to the manufacturer, our compass has a water-resistant design that allows it to withstand incidental exposure to water or moisture. However, we recommend not submerging the compass in water.
Lavina Phua –
The only thing I dislike about the Problue GU-1280 Compass is that it could be more compact. I’d love to see a more portable version.
Natalie Tan –
Can I use this compass in extreme cold weather conditions?
Imran Hanafiah –
Thank you for choosing the Problue GU-1280 Compass! We’re glad to hear you’re thinking of using our product in extreme cold weather conditions. Our compass is designed to be durable and functional, but we do have some specifications to consider.
