Is there a difference between the primary and octo stages?

Thank you for reaching out to us, Lavina. The Mares Rover 2S 2nd Stage Regulator is a primary regulator designed to be used as the main stage on a scuba diving engine. The octo stage is typically used as a redundant source of gas in case of an emergency (in the event of the primary hose being damaged or failing). Both stages operate on the same gas supply, however, the primary stage is designed to deliver the full gas supply to the diver, while the octo stage shares some percentage of the supply to the primary, providing a backup source in case of emergency. The octo stage is more portable and easier to deploy in such situations.
