I’ve used the Mares 2S First Stage Regulator for several dives now, and it consistently performs well without any major issues. Its compact and lightweight design makes it easy to handle, even for extended periods. I’m impressed by its build quality and affordability.
Beverley Ong –
How does the Mares 2S First Stage Regulator’s breathing resistance compare to other regulators in its class? Can someone advise on the best way to clean the regulator’s mouthpiece and orifices for optimal performance and longevity?
Imran Hanafiah –
Thank you for your review, Beverley! The Mares 2S First Stage Regulator is known for its excellent breathing resistance, comparable to other high-end regulators in its class. The breathing performance is smooth and efficient, making it suitable for various diving conditions. To clean the regulator’s mouthpiece and orifices, we recommend using a soft-bristled brush to gently scrub away any debris. For the orifices, we suggest using a specialized cleaning tool or a soft cloth to avoid damaging the sensitive parts. For optimal performance and longevity, it’s essential to regularly rinse the regulator with fresh water and store it in a dry place. We’d be happy to help if you have any further questions or concerns.

Has anyone noticed a decrease in the pressure gauge sensitivity compared to other regulator models? Would like to know if anyone has experienced any issues with the DIN connection threads on this Mares regulator.
Junhao Lo –
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the Mares 2S 1st Stage Regulator – DIN 300. We appreciate your feedback. Regarding pressure gauge sensitivity, we haven’t received any other reports of it being a significant issue. However, it’s possible that some users might notice a slight difference in sensitivity compared to other regulator models. As for the DIN connection threads, we’ve had no major issues reported. Nevertheless, we encourage you to reach out to our customer support if you have any further concerns or questions. We’d be happy to help.

Overall, the Mares 2S 1st Stage Regulator – DIN 300 is an excellent choice for its price point, offering a great balance of quality and performance. However, its battery life is a bit shorter than I’d like, and the alarm sounds a bit too faint to be heard clearly underwater.
Evelyn Teng –
What I love about this Mares 2S First Stage Regulator is its high airflow capacity, which allows for a comfortable breathing experience even at depths. However, I wish it had a more ergonomic design for better grip in wet conditions. Overall, I’m very satisfied with its performance and value for money.

Will the Mares 2S 1st Stage Regulator – DIN 300 still deliver a consistent flow rate in the event of a free flow? Can someone advise me on the maintenance costs and frequency for this regulator model? I’ve heard mixed reviews about the durability of its diaphragm.
Imran Hanafiah –
Thank you for your question, Kymberley! The Mares 2S 1st Stage Regulator – DIN 300 is designed to deliver a consistent flow rate even in the event of a free flow. The regulator’s overpressure system helps to prevent free flowing and ensure a steady air supply. Regarding maintenance costs and frequency, we recommend regular cleaning and maintenance to extend the lifespan of the regulator. Typically, this involves replacing the O-rings and cleaning the regulator every 12 months or after 200 dives, whichever comes first. The diaphragm in the Mares 2S is of high quality and durable, but it’s not invincible. We’ve had some reports of diaphragm failure due to user error or extreme water conditions. However, these instances are rare. I’d be happy to provide more information on maintenance procedures or offer any further guidance. Have you had any experience with regulator maintenance before?
